Operatives of the Anti-kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit of the Edo State Police Command, said that they have arrested one Jefferson Onojorhorhouwo for defrauding an Australia lady, one Eife Burnt the sum of N100m with the promise of both getting married soon.
Parading the suspect in Benin City, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nwabuzor said that the case was reported by Martins Onyechukwu on behalf of Eife Burnt against Jefferson Onojorhorhouwo, 31, and they swung into action immediately.
According to Nwabuzor, “On 25/09/2023, operatives of Anti-kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit while conducting investigation into a case of internet fraud and cybercrime reported by one Martins Onyechukwu ‘m’ on behalf of one Eife Burnt ‘F’ against one Jefferson Onojorhorhouwo ‘M’ age 31 years who allegedly misrepresented himself as the identity of one white man on facebook and engaged an Australia lady, one Eife Burnt ‘f’ on internet romance sometime in the years 2020 with the pretence of marrying her and thereafter defrauded her the sum of one hundred million naira (#100,000,000.00).
“On 16/10/2023, Operatives using technical intelligence arrested the suspect, Jefferson Onojorhorhmo ‘m’ at Okabere Quarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City.
“He made a statement and confessed to the crime and that he used the one hundred million naira to buy two vehicles, one Toyota Venza Reg. No, RSH 36 CE and one Toyota Corolla Saloon car Reg. No. FUG 366 JP”.
He however said that the two vehicles were recovered adding that the suspect will soon be charged to court.
