Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu, despite inheriting a failed economy, has substantially fixed the mess in the last 26 months.

He stated this in Esan Central Local Government Area during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally for the August 16 Edo Central senatorial by-election.

Governor Okpebholo, who led the APC stakeholders to several wards in the area, including Uwessan and Ewu, commended President Tinubu’s policies aimed at stabilising the economy.

“President Bola Tinubu inherited a failed economy from previous administrations. He was in a very bad situation. He has really worked hard to address the issues and to fix the mess he inherited from his predecessors,” he said. The governor explained that the President’s support had been instrumental to his own performance as Governor and urged the people to support the President’s re-election in 2027.

“Within a short period in the Senate, I was able to secure an approval of N130 billion from President Tinubu for the construction of the Ekpoma–Auchi–Okpella Road.

“We had a PDP senator, who spent eight years and could not achieve this. What we achieved in nine months in the Senate, with President Tinubu’s support, the PDP could not do in eight years,” Okpebholo added.

He disclosed that upon assuming office as a senator and later as governor, he quickly aligned with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda because of his love for Edo State.

“President Tinubu told me to fix roads in Edo State with the assurance of a reimbursement. So, we are working. Immediately after the rains, there will be massive road construction across the state.”

The rally was attended by party leaders, including the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor; Edo Central senatorial Leader, General Cecil Esekhaigbe (retd); APC State Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; Commissioners and Special Advisers, among others.
