Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, a key campaign promise, assuring the people of a rapid pace of development.
He stated this on Saturday, July 26, 2025, while receiving defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igueben Local Government Area of the state.
Those who dumped the PDP for the APC include Hon. Eugene Inegbobho, the sitting member of the Edo State House of Assembly representing Igueben; Hon. Felix Omi Imoisili, a two-time council chairman and former State PDP Secretary; and Hon. Sylvanus Igbogbo, who led other members in joining the party.
“The past government said they were going to do a seaport; they never did a half-kilometre. But today, we are doing it. We are constructing roads across Edo. We are going to do what they could not do for eight years in one year. Our work will speak for us,” Okpebholo assured.
The governor, while addressing the jubilant crowd, announced that his administration will soon begin the commissioning of various finished projects across the state, even as he expressed gratitude to the APC members and the people of Igueben, saying, “I want to thank all members of APC in Igueben Local Government Area. I want to thank the people who decided to say Edo is working again.

“Very soon, we will replicate what Nyesom Wike is doing in the Federal Capital Territory by commissioning projects for a whole month. We are planning that in Edo State. We will soon commence the commissioning of completed projects across the three senatorial districts of the state.”
He highlighted the recent influx of defectors as a sign of his administration’s growing momentum, adding, “They decided that the only way they can pay us back is to come and join us. Today, the narrative is changing.”
At the event, Okpebholo re-echoed his promise to President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying, “That means my promise of 2.5 million votes to the President come 2027 is possible.”
Among several prominent figures who addressed the crowd were Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), APC leader in Edo Central Senatorial District; and APC state Chairman, Jarret Tenebe.
