The Coalition of Support Groups for Asue Ighodalo said at the weekend that it would permanently crush opposition parties in the state if the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie, agrees to be the running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
The group said Ighodalo already towers above other candidates of other political parties showing interest in the race to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki, in terms of international connections, intelligence, education, capacity, and experience, among other qualities needed to be governor.
Speaking with newsmen, the Director-General of the group, Mujaidu Bello, said: “It would be a perfect match and a strategic pick, if the party considers Osarodion Ogie as a running mate. In fact, it would be an overkill for the opposition parties if that happens because the campaigns would be a lot easier, and the election could be  concluded before the scheduled time.
“The time for a proper deputy governor has come because the responsibilities of that office are immense, needing someone whose experience and expertise will help the candidate navigate the challenges of governance.
“If the party approaches the Secretary to the State Government, and he agrees, it will not only generate an overwhelming reaction, but also one that will attract support from across party affiliations, and civil societies, among others, who know the quality of the person Ogie is made of.
“Incorporating Ogie into the candidacy would not only strengthen the ticket, but also garner widespread endorsement and confidence from diverse sectors of society.
“Moreover, by presenting a unified front with a formidable team, the party can inspire trust and unity among its members and the electorate, giving them a sense of confidence in its ability to lead Edo State towards progress and prosperity,” he said
