Hundreds of members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC), yesterday, dumped their parties and defected to All Progressives Congress (APC), during the ongoing ward to ward campaign of the party at at Igueben, headquarters of Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
Director General of All Progressive Congress Campaign Council, Matthew Urhoghide, while receiving the defectors, assured them of fair treatment, saying all members are equal in APC.
He told the crowd of party members and supporters that he believes in Monday Okpebholo as a good candidate that will listen to the yearnings of the people.
Also speaking, Coordinator of APC Campaign Council in Edo Central senatorial district, Odianosen Okojie, appealed to the defectors to come out en masse on September 21 to cast their votes for the party.
Earlier, the APC governorship candidate, Okpebholo, while addressing the party supporters at his hometown, Ujabhole in Uwesan, Esan Central Local Government Area, said his people will vote him saying: “My people have asked me not to bother to campaign here because I have their support and votes already.”
Addressing a crowd of party members and supporters at Irrua, headquarters Esan Central Local Government Area, former governor Adams Oshiomhole, said: “PDP, as a party, has no candidate as we talk, the Federal High Court, Abuja has said so. The process that brought Asue Ighodalo in the primary was also faulted by the Federal High Court in Abuja, so don’t go and waste your vote for PDP.”
On his part, the deputy governorship candidate, Denis Idahosa, called the party supporters to ensure that on September 21, the votes cast from the Esan Central Local Government is hundred per cent for the APC.
