Students of Pioneer Education Centre, Edo State, have emerged winners of the JV Seplat Energy Quiz competition of the 2025 edition.
The grand finale of the knowledge-based contest, which was held in Asaba, Delta State capital , on Thursday, October 23, 2025, saw the Pioneer Education Centre, Edo State, going home with a whopping prize of N10 million.
While the second and third-place schools, Notre Dame College, Uzoro, Delta State, and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Benin, Edo State, received five million Naira and three million Naira respectively.
The PEARLs Quiz, whose aim is to promote exceptional and respectable leaders in Seplat Energy JV’s flagship Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives geared towards the promotion of academic excellence, nurturing critical thinking, and inspiring the next-generation of leaders.
Speaking at the event, the Director, External Affairs and Social Performance, Seplat Energy, Chioma Afe, who was represented by Hadiza Garbati, General Manager Government Relations at Seplat, said the initiative was to promote exceptional and respectable leaders and help to foster students in the right direction”.
She said the students have demonstrated that the initiative is already bearing fruit by nurturing young people.

According to her, “the level to which each participant had taken the PEARLs Quiz to make him or her a better person in the journey of life is commendable.”
The Managing Director of NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL), Nicolas Foucart represented by the Corporate Communication Department, Godwin Ijiga expressed joy and enthusiasm for the brilliance demonstrated by the participants across Edo and Delta States.
Meanwhile, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Girl Child Development Ms. Orode Uduaghan, commended Seplat JV for the initiative, which has greatly impacted the students.
He said, “The PEARLS quiz, which translates to promoting exceptional and respectable leaders, is a shining example of corporate social responsibility that aligns perfectly with our developmental vision.
“For years, this initiative has provided a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate intellect, confidence, and character while promoting the culture of academic excellence.
Also speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Edo State, Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, applauded the Seplat JV for positively impacting the students and creating a positive academic environment.
