Mr Joe Okojie and Mr Johnny Aikpitanyin have emerged candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the August 16, 2025 National Assembly by-election for Edo Central Senatorial district and Ovia Federal Constituency, respectively.
Okojie emerged winner of the PDP primary election held in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state. Others who contested for the ticket on the platform of the PDP include Mr John Yakubu and Friday Itulah.

Aikpitanyin, who was the only aspirant for the federal constituency seat, was elected at the primary election conducted in Iguobazuwa.
