Barrister Lucky Eseigbe has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer for the Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections in Edo State.

Eseigbe secured a landslide victory in the party’s primary election, defeating incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Marcus Onobun, and other aspirants to clinch the APC ticket with 6,897 votes.

The primary election, conducted under the supervision of party officials and stakeholders, was described by observers as peaceful and transparent.

Following the exercise, Eseigbe was presented with his Certificate of Return at the APC State Secretariat alongside other successful candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries across the state.

Speaking after his emergence, Eseigbe dedicated the victory to the people of Esan Central, Esan West and Igueben Federal Constituency, pledging to provide inclusive leadership, effective representation and grassroots-driven development.

According to him, the outcome of the primary election reflects the confidence party members and supporters have in his vision for the constituency.

“This victory belongs to the people. It is a call to greater service and commitment to building a stronger and more progressive constituency for our people,” he said.

Eseigbe further assured party faithful and residents of the constituency that he would work towards empowering youths, improving community development and ensuring that the interests of the people are adequately represented at the National Assembly if elected in 2027.

Supporters and party stakeholders also hailed his emergence, describing him as a grassroots politician with widespread acceptance across the constituency.

An APC chieftain, Prince Kelly Udebhulu, said Eseigbe’s emergence followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders, adding that the outcome reflected the collective decision of the party ahead of the general elections.

According to him, the APC leadership considered competence, acceptability and political capacity before settling on Eseigbe as its preferred candidate for the constituency.

He urged party members to remain united and mobilise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
