The Edo State Government has expressed confidence that the 100-megawatt (MW) CCETC (Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd) Independent Power Plant and its associated industrial park will be commissioned in December 2026, with 46MW of generating capacity already installed.

The State Commissioner for Power, Hon. Paul Usenbo, gave the assurance on Tuesday during an inspection of the project site in Ologbo in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state, which also houses the Tahur Industrial Park and an associated 300-metric-tonne Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility.

Usenbo said the inspection was aimed at assessing construction progress, equipment installation, testing and compliance with project timelines.

He noted that the developers had met their second-quarter milestones, expressing confidence that the December commissioning target remained achievable.

He added that the government was closely monitoring progress and engaging with the developers to ensure that outstanding technical and regulatory requirements were addressed.

According to the commissioner, the project aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration’s commitment to expanding electricity generation and improving power supply across Edo State’s three senatorial districts.

He expressed optimism that the project would boost electricity availability, support industrial growth and stimulate economic activities across the state.

Meanwhile, CCETC Marketing Manager, Eric Ju, confirmed that 46MW of generating capacity had been installed, thanking the state government for its continued support.

He said the company was working to begin supplying electricity before the end of 2026 while advancing the remaining phases of the project.
