Eight landmark projects worth N2.645bn successfully constructed by Prof. William Qurix, the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, have been commissioned.
The project included the ultra-modern buildings for Centre for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership Studies; Faculty of Allied Health Sciences; Faculty of Administration and Management Services; Senate Building; Multi-Users laboratory; Justice Ogebe Library, and two sit out for students.
ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Panya Baba, alongside several other stakeholders including the ECWA Secretary, Yunusa Nmadu, former and serving Governing Council members of the university commissioned the projects at the university campus located at Karu, Nasarawa State.
The project commissioning was part of activities to herald the end of the tenure of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Qurix, which takes effect from Monday, 8th January, 2024.
ECWA President, in his remarks, acknowledged the “giant” achievements and transformation, academically and otherwise, that the school witnessed during the six years that Prof. Qurix spent as the Vice Chancellor of the school.
He particularly appreciated the managerial peace and stability that enveloped the school, which was largely responsible for the academic peace and infrastructural development witnessed in the school over the years.
Some former and serving members of the Council in their separate remarks prayed for the good health and vitality for the outgoing Vice Chancellor, and wished him well in his future responsibilities.
Speaking with journalists, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Qurix, said the transformation witnessed in the school in the past years was a result of collective efforts of all stakeholders including the students and parents.
He particularly appreciated the support that came his way from the Board of Trustees, Governing Council as well as management and staff of the university, stating that such support helped tremendously in his quest to transform the school, academically and otherwise.
“Our graduates are the desire of industry players, particularly those in the College of Medicine. Others in other professional fields like Law, are also doing amazingly well.
He expressed confidence in the capacity and competence of his successor, Prof Kuje Ayuba, and advised that he ride on the established platform to move the university to greater height, academically and otherwise.
He, thus appealed to the management and staff of the university to offer support to his successor so they can collectively make the school the desire of all, academically and otherwise.
