ECOWAS unity, Nigeria’s priority – Iji

ECOWAS

The new Nigerian Ambassador to Togo Joseph Olusola Iji has said that the unity of West African countries under the aegis of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is of top priority to Nigeria.

He stated this shortly after he was presented his letter of Credence along with other newly appointed ambassadors by the Minister of State for foreign affairs, khadija Bukar Abba.

In his remarks, Abba urged the ambassadors to work as true representatives of the country with the intention of cementing relationship between Nigeria and their host countries.

Commenting on his new assignment, Iji said: “Nigeria is a great country and in fact the giant of Africa. The country has a lot of potentials economically and politically. I want to carry with me the message of unity, peace, the doggedness of the Federal Government to create employment for our teeming youths, the diversification of our economy and President Muhammadu Buhari’s love for everybody.”He noted that peace and stability in the region were key to economic development.
