…warns against cultism, exam malpractice

Ebonyi State University (EBSU), at the weekend, formally admitted its new 11,500 students into the institution.
The event which was its 28th matriculation ceremony, was held at the university’s permanent site in Ezzangbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
It caused gridlock on the ever -busy Abakaliki/ Ezzamgb/Enugu expressway way following a mammoth crowd that graced the occasion.
The newly matriculated students, parents, guardians, friends, siblings and relatives who attended the ceremony were trekking to their homes far away from the university on Saturday evening when it ended following lack of mobility.
Governor Francis Nwifuru who was represented at the ceremony by the state Commissioner for Education, Donatus Ilang warned, the newly admitted students against cultism, exam malpractice and other social vices.

He implored them to face their studies which he said is the sole aim of being in the institution and shun every act capable of affecting their studies. studies
He enumerated some interventions his administration has carried out in the University to include; increased monthly subvention, increment of staff salary, offsetting of debts owed by the University infrastructure facelift among others.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Michael Awoke urged lecturers to focus on their mission to educate and guide students.
He urged the students to demonstrate good character in the school reject anything that could damage their reputation and that of the university.
