Suspended commissioner for Works in Ebonyi State, Stanley Lebechi Mbam, has begged for a second chance.
Mbam and his Infrastructure Development for Concession counterpart, Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, were suspended indefinitely, last Saturday, by Governor Francis Nwifuru for dereliction of duties.
They were asked to handover all government property in their possession, including their official vehicles, to the Secretary to the State Government with immediate effect, according to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor.
However, Mbam said he takes responsibility for the unmet expectations of the Ministry of Works under his watch, and requested for a second chance for improvement.
“Leadership and mentorship come with a lot; the ability to take accolades, and the courage to take correction and reprimand. I reaffirm my loyalty and accountability to my principal, Rt. Hon. Francis Obgonna Nwifuru.
“Performances from the Ministry of Works are dear to His Excellency, and every disciplinary measure taken secretly and publicly is a means of drawing his foot soldiers to do more. I take responsibility for the unmet expectations of the Ministry of Works under my watch. Recent events will spur us to do more, take stock, improve in our areas of weakness, and escalate our areas of strength.
“On behalf of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Works, I take responsibility for the observed lapses.
Your Excellency, I apologise for every perceived disappointment; we will do better, and a second chance won’t be taken for granted. I apologise, my leader and mentor”.
