Ebonyi State has been experiencing epileptic power supply for one week. and the situation has affected socio -economic activities across the state.
But the Eastland Electricity Distribution Limited (EEDL) said the drop in electricity supply currently being experienced across its franchise area is due to a decline in national electricity generation and the resulting constraints on the national grid. The company said the situation has affected the entire country and not only Ebonyi State.
“The low system frequency has necessitated load shedding by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to maintain grid stability and prevent a possible system collapse. We understand the inconvenience this situation is causing our customers and sincerely regret the disruption to your daily activities and businesses.
“Please be assured that we remain committed to distributing the available electricity as efficiently as possible while the relevant stakeholders work towards improving supply.
“We appeal for your patience and understanding as we look forward to improved electricity supply when generation capacity increases and the national grid stabilises”, Patience Ezeagu, Head Communications in the company, said yesterday in a statement.
