Ebonyi senator condemns murder of army officers, soldiers
From Magnus Eze, Enugu
A member of the Senate Committee on Army and senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Prof. Anthony Ani, has condemned the recent gruesome murder of Captain Banito Okereke and other officers and men of the Nigerian Army by terrorists at Shiroro, Niger State.
He expressed shock over the sad news of the untimely death of the brave, gallant and patriotic military officers who were slain in the line of duty in defence of the fatherland.
The senator noted that one of the casualties, Captain Okereke, was his constituent from Umunuka, Okposi in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. He described the death of the young and promising officer with a very bright future in Nigeria security services as painful to the Senatorial District, the State and Nigeria.
The senator prayed to God to grant the deceased officer’s immediate family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the huge loss. He urged the relevant authorities to make sure that the perpetrators of the dastardly crime were fished out and caused to face the full weight of the law.
