Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved a N30,000 monthly state stipend for every National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in the state.
The approval was made last Friday during the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo, Afikpo Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Chidiebere Onyia, Nwifuru reassured the corps members of the administration’s steadfast commitment to their security and wellbeing.
He described Ebonyi as a hospitable, peaceful and opportunity-rich state, urging the corps members to leverage the service year for personal development, cross-cultural integration and community building.
“This administration remains committed to supporting your growth, welfare, and safety,” Onyia stated, encouraging the corps members to contribute meaningfully to their primary assignments across the state.

While commending the Ebonyi State Government for its sustained partnership and investment in youth development, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Malgwi Pat Maidariya, highlighted critical infrastructure needs at the orientation facility, located at Old MacGregor College, Afikpo.
Mrs Maidariya appealed for state intervention in key physical upgrades, including the modernisation of the central camp kitchen and construction of a standard dining facility.
She also called for the establishment of a fully equipped Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Centre, as well as structural perimeter fence renovation and facility upgrades inside the multi-purpose hall.
Addressing the corps members, Mrs Maidariya emphasised the imperative of discipline, active participation in camp programmes, and adherence to the foundational values of patriotism, integrity and selfless service.
She further extended appreciation to camp officials, resource personnel and collaborating security agencies for maintaining order and operational efficiency throughout the orientation period.
The swearing-in ceremony featured several key proceedings: formal signing and taking of the Oath of Allegiance by the newly matriculated corps members, tactical drills presented by the Man ‘O’ War unit alongside traditional ceremonial performances, and an official walkthrough and evaluation of infrastructure development projects within the camp grounds.
