A native doctor, Mr. Ejike Ogwuru, accused of defiling two minors, is cooling his heels at the headquarters of Ebonyi State Police Command, Abakaliki.
It was learnt that the two children were abducted by the suspect on October 22, 2025, on their way to a church activity at Ndufu-Umuota village, Ekawoke Umueka in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
The distressed parents of the victims reported the matter to members of the village vigilance group, which swung into action and discovered the children in a hotel room with the suspect at Igeledeoha, Eke Amagu Ikwo, the following morning.
Consequent upon their rescue, the victims revealed to their parents that the suspect penetrated each of them twice and collected the discharged fluids with his white handkerchief possibly for diabolic use.
A source alleged that Ogwuru wanted to take the two children, aged 15 and 17 years, respectively, to an unknown place before his evil plan was aborted by the gallant security guards that caught him and handed him over to police.
The village head of Umuota, Mr. Romanus Igwe said that he was informed about the incident by the victims’ parents the following day stating that the rescue operation was successful due to the information provided by some indigenes that saw the minors at the hotel premises.
The police command’s spokesman, Joshua Ukandu, a superintendent of police, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the victims were referred to the gender clinic section of National Obstetrics Fistula Centre, Abakaliki, for assessments.
He also said that the suspect was already in their custody and would be arraigned once the investigation was concluded.
