Ebonyi gov distributes 32 SUVs, ambulances to doctors, hospitals

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, has presented 32 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to the medical doctors in charge of the General Hospitals in the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.  This was part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state. The hand-over of the vehicles and 20 ambulances was extended to other health personnel at the Government House Clinic and other facilities in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Dr. Monday Uzor who represented his boss while commissioning the vehicles at the Governor’s Lodge, Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, said the aim was to enable the doctors respond appropriately to emergency calls.

He reiterated the governor’s commitment to improving the health of the people and directed that the ambulances stationed at the general hospitals.

“The vehicles should be used for the purpose for which they are meant for. They should be also used to cater for the health of our people.

“All the General Hospitals in the state have been provided with ambulances and they are meant to be used for the hospital services rather private use,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chief Executive of Hospital Management Board, Dr. Nwali James described the gesture as one of its kind and expressed gratitude to the governor.

He promised that they would perform their duties creditably and prayed God to give the governor sound health and divine protection.
