The people of Afikpo, Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have paraded a young lady identified simply as Ugomma, for allegedly having intercourse with another lady.
The lady was paraded round the largest market in Afikpo known as Eke-Ukwu.
Spokesperson of the community, Chief Morris Isu, known as Okabue by the people, paraded the lady round the market on behalf of the community.

He was carrying palm fronds on his face in line with the culture and tradition of the community during the public parade, while the lady was mandated to ring a bell during the parade, shouting “I will not have sex with my fellow woman anymore o”.
Meanwhile, the public parading has drawn mixed reactions within and outside the state. While some were in support of the action of the community, stating it aligns with local cultural values, others condemned the act which they described as public disgrace.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, a Superintendent of Police, told Daily Sun that he has not received any report on the incident. He, however, promised to contact the Afikpo Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for information on the matter.
