Ebonyi communal war: 4 heads still missing as police arrest 10

The police in Ebonyi State have arrested ten persons over the violent attack on Okporojo, Oso Edda in Edda Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Uche-Adaku Anya disclosed this on Saturday when she visited the area.

The people of the area have been at loggerheads for decades with their Amasiri neighbours in Afikpo Local Government Area of the state over land dispute with several lives lost and property worth billions of naira destroyed.

Few days ago, suspected warlords invaded Okporojo and beheaded four persons in the community and took the heads away.

The four heads have not been seen till now. Houses and other valuable property were also burnt. A church was also destroyed during the attack.

The Commissioner of Police, commiserated with the people of Okporojọr over the tragic loss of lives and the wanton destruction of property.

She however assured the people of the community of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and disclosed that ten suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The police commissioner emphasised that investigations were ongoing and that the command would not relent until all those involved were brought to justice.

The CP further assured the community that the security deployment already in place would be sustained until normalcy is restored. She appealed to the people against resorting to self-help and taking the law into their own hands.
