Ebonyi State Executive Council has approved construction of more rural roads and bridges across the state.
The state Commissioner for Works, Lebechi Mbam and his counterpart in Infrastructure, Obasi Abara disclosed this to journalists on Friday on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting.
The Commissioners listed the projects Nsokkara/Okoffia/Amagu road in Ezza South Local Government Area, Mmaku bridge in Afikpo Local Government Area, Ugbodo bridge in Ebonyi Local Government Area which collapsed in the past, two span bridge in Ekebeligwe/Odumoke/Nwori road.
Others are 16.7km Randa/Mbamiri road in Izzi Local Government Area, 9.8km Amanze and Izzo housing estate internal road in Ishielu Local Government Area built by the state government for the displaced persons during the war between Ezza-Ezillo/Ezillo communities, 13.5km road in Agbaja community, Izzi Local Government Area among other projects.
Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in the state, Jude Okpor told journalists that the internal roads in Izzo and Amaze communities would be completed before the second year anniversary of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration.

He said the council approved N3million each for 100 graduands of the second phase of the state government agro -based training for their empowerment.
Okpor explained that the first phase of people that participated in the training, had been empowered by the state government to commence agricultural activities in their areas of interest for food sufficiency in the state.
On his part, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Professor Amari Omaka said the Executive Council also approved 12 new buildings at the various Universities across the state.
He revealed that the council equally approved six new faculty buildings for the new University of ICT in the state and 3 for Aerospace University of Engineering.
Omaka said the council had approved construction of eight new hostel buildings in the new Universities and that works were ongoing in the Universities.
He noted that each of the buildings would cost N1.2bn.
