Founder of Gtext Holdings, Stephen Akintayo, has marked his 40th birthday with a public lecture centred on legacy, mentorship, and knowledge transfer. The event, held at Jasper Gardenia in Epe, Lagos, attracted notable personalities, including veteran juju musician Ebenezer Obey, celebrity fashion designer Seyi Vodi, David Burrows of Bahama Ministries, and singer Zaaki Azzay.

Akintayo said the decision to celebrate with a lecture rather than a conventional party was deliberate, stressing the need to inspire and equip the next generation.

“We could have done something else, but we need to pass on knowledge to the next generation,” he said. “I want people to know that you can come from nothing and become a leader in your industry.”

The occasion also featured the unveiling of two books authored by Akintayo — Quoteable Quotes by Stephen Akintayo and The Billionaire Habits 3 — as well as the launch of a 1,000-apartment housing project at the Jasper Gardenia estate.

Speaking during the lecture, Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, urged young Nigerians to adopt discipline and hard work, warning against excessive fixation on social media.

“This generation is fixated on social media. As good as it is, it does not always encourage diligence in chasing goals,” she said, encouraging youths to use digital platforms for learning and capacity building.

Also delivering a keynote, Chairman of Coscharis Group, Cosmas Maduka, emphasised the importance of strategic planning and delayed gratification in building an enduring enterprise.

The highlight of the celebration was a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially inaugurate the 1,000-unit housing development project, reinforcing Akintayo’s commitment to long-term impact beyond business success.
