The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has congratulated Nigerian Christians on Easter 2025, highlighting its profound spiritual significance as the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a Sunday message, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh urged Nigerians to find strength in this truth and support one another in faith.
Okoh said, “Easter stands as the cornerstone of our faith, reminding us of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for the redemption of humanity. His resurrection is a powerful testament to the might of God, offering us hope, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life.”

He cited 1 Corinthians 15:14: “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith,” underscoring Easter’s foundational role.
He described Easter as both a religious and cultural celebration, from Lagos’s vibrant parades to solemn northern village processions, often starting with Palm Sunday palm-waving. These events showcase Nigeria’s diverse faith and traditions through music, dance, and family gatherings.
Okoh added, “The resurrection affirms that light will always triumph over darkness, and love will conquer fear.”
Despite persecution in some regions, Okoh noted that Easter’s spirit inspires resilience. He encouraged Christians to rise above challenges through faith and unity, reflecting Christ’s victory.
