Eagles soar on FIFA ranking

Former African champions, the Super Eagles has moved four places in the world football governing body, FIFA monthly ranking.

The Gernot Rohr side coasts to 44th spot on the log with 1431 points, just as they placed third behind Tunisia and Senegal on the continent.

Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 qualifying opponents, South Africa, Libya and Seychelles were ranked 73rd, 105th and 188th respectively.

Super Eagles play away to South Africa in their quest to qualify for the Cup of Nations after missing two editions of the biennial tournament.

Meanwhile, Belgium that joined France in becoming the first-ever joint leaders last month.

Now the Red Devils are in sole possession of top spot, albeit by the narrowest possible margin – 1733 ranking points to Les Bleus’ 1732.
