The Super Eagles, three-time AFCON champions, earned an impressive ₦56 million for scoring four goals against the Mambas of Mozambique in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Round of 16 match on Monday night in Fez.

The team was promised a bonus of $10,000 (approximately ₦14 million) for each goal scored during this knockout-stage fixture.

This incentive was provided by a Nigerian business mogul and team partner and represents a doubling of the per-goal bonus offered during the group stage, which was previously $5,000 per goal.

Before the match, Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, had confirmed the development in Rabat.

He stated that the Federal Government and private partners had mobilized significant support for the team’s AFCON campaign. Dikko also mentioned that the bonuses could increase as the tournament progresses.
