As Nigeria celebrated its 62nd Independence Day anniversary, a non-governmental organisation, Diplomatic Tulazi Foundation (DTF), showered joy on motherless babies at Pure Heart Orhanage in Tedi Town, Oriade Local Council Development Area, Lagos State.
The foundation, whose main objective is to touch lives, distributed various food items, medicine, study materials as well as financial assistance to the children.
In her address of welcome, the proprietor of the home, Mrs. Joy Duke, thanked members of the foundation for finding time to come and celebrate with motherless children. She prayed that God will continue to bless them.
Duke said, by God’s grace, they have ensured that the children are happy and doing well in their studies. She expressed happiness over how different organisations have been a blessing to the children through their support.
Responding, chairman, DTF, Mr Amusa Babatunde, praised Duke and her team for their support and solidarity for the care and wellbeing of the children.
He appealed to women who give birth to children and abandon them to have a rethink and desist from the acºt. He admonished the children to be respectful and obedient to the proprietor and her team.
Babatunde promised that the foundation would continue to assist them, saying the main reason for the establishment of the foundation was to touch the lives of the less privileged in society. He said it was their pleasure to celebrate Nigeria’s 62 Independence Day with the children.
He noted that it’ was through God’s grace that the foundation has gained local and global momentum because of its humanitarian gestures. He reminded them that, as future leaders of the country, they could only lead the nation right if they are properly brought up.
He encouraged Duke and her subordinates to continue the good work they were doing.
He said: “Each time I remember what my mother went through, trying to give us, her children, good upbringing, I cannot but appreciate the good work you are doing to ensure proper upbringing of these children.”
The activities included cutting of cake by Babatunde to mark his 40th birthday and a football match between Diplomatic and Friends Football Club and Samba Boys of Ojo at Camp 2 field, Ojo Military Cantonment.
