The Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) on Wednesday made a strong appeal to President Bola Tinubu to do something fast about the alleged continual disregard to court orders by the leadership of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) before it ruin his government.
The group in a statement by its Chairman Board of trustees, Mohammed Danlami, expressed concern over what is called the constant refusal of the secret police under Yusuf Magaji Bichi’s leadership, to listen to the court orders.
For example, the Group mentioned that the DSS has refused to obey court orders and it has continued to keep the likes of Nnamdi Kanu, Godwin Emefiele, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Aminu Yaro Dogara, and a few others in detention even when Court has granted them bail.
The Group noted that the DSS is supposed to be a friend of the judiciary, working hand-in-hand to maintain law and order, “but the contrary is what is obtained in this case”.
The statement read in part; “we have a leadership of the service that has refused to obey court orders. It has continued to keep people in detention even when the court judgment says otherwise.
“Nnamdi Kanu, Godwin Emefiele, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Aminu Yaro Dogara are a few examples of such. This is direct defiance of the court order which must not continue because it cannot be tolerated.
“We fear and consequently caution President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act now or face a security situation even worst than that of his predecessor. The DSS job is tedious, hectic, rough, and demanding, therefore requires a younger, more active, agile, and vibrant fellow to deliver.
“For a better Nigeria and to keep to the promise of renewed hope, we appeal to President Bola Tinubu to sack Yusuf Magaji Bichi and overhaul the department because DSS under him is nothing to write home about”, Danlami submitted.
