DSS: We’re investigating allegation, have always been fair to ADC, NDC, others

The Department of State Services (DSS) has mounted a fierce defence of its neutrality following explosive sabotage claims made by African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The domestic intelligence agency delivered the scathing response on Tuesday, and vehemently rejected assertions that its operatives plotted state-sponsored demonstrations in Sokoto State.

Former Vice President Atiku had publicly accused the secret police of orchestrating public unrest in the northern political stronghold.

While dismissing the claims, the DSS described the accusations as unfounded. Deputy Director of Public Relations, Favour Dozie stated that such accusations “tend to demoralise our gallant operatives who are risking their lives in the line of duty.”

Dozie revealed that secret police officers recently risked their lives to rescue ADC Governorship Candidate Mannir Daniya from an armed violent ambush in Sokoto.

“DSS Operatives deployed to Sokoto ADC Governorship Candidate; Mannir Daniya, evacuated him to safety unhurt on 31st October 2026 when attacked in Sokoto,” Dozie confirmed.

“Two operatives sustained severe injuries during the extraction and remain hospitalised under intensive care. Daniya personally telephoned the Sokoto State Director to express deep gratitude and requested for reinforcement from the DSS,” she added.

The Service highlighted its neutral protective record across all major political divides.

The agency also addressed separate accusations levelled by African Action Congress flagbearer Omoyele Sowore regarding an Ekiti State assault. The statement noted that the intelligence agency “will not dissipate energy on the matter.”

the Agency said that an internal investigation into Atiku’s remarks has been launched “in deference to the elder statesman.” The agency stressed that security personnel will remain fully accountable under the present Director-General while refusing to succumb to political distractions.
