Trouble started for the late DSP when the team of detective from Abuja came to his unit for  annual routine auditing of arms and ammunition, when it was discovered that catches of ammunition were either missing or could not be accounted for.

The auditors were further alarmed by the discovery from  preliminary findings that 13 AK-47 riffles and over 2000 ammunition were missing.

It was gathered the  armoury played host to a number of different categories of weapons, but only the section of the AK 47 has been audited before the tragic incident .

He disclosed further, that the arms and ammunition were subsequently sold to the bandits through his brother, an indigene of the area,  who is also an informant to criminals.

It was gatherd that operatives from the office of the National Security Adviser had earlier swooped on Minna and took  away the suspects to Abuja for further investigation.

A senior police officer told our correspondent that It was in the process that  DSP  Isah smartly grabbed one the pistols in the armoury and shot himself in the head, and died instantly.

“He could not be handcuffed since the armoury is electronically controlled and only the DSP had the mechanism to open it, this provided him the opportunity to reach out to the pistol before shooting himself.

Also, four police officers attached to the late DSP, have been arrested and are  equally undergoing interrogation.
