The Federal Government has assured the Kebbi State Government and the people of the state that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would continued to support the agriculture revolution of the state to sustain the food security in the country..
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari stated this during the flag off of the 2026 dry season farming and distribution of Ramadan palliative to over one million general public in Birnin Kebbi.
The Minister, Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Tanko Sununu officially flag off the distribution of the items held at Haliru Abdul Stadium, Birnin Kebbi.
While addressing farmers at the event, Kyari, who applauded the leadership role being play by Kebbi State in the production of Rice, Millets and other arable crops, noted that the State policy on agriculture align with that of the Federal Government on food security.
According to him, ” from the rice fields that cut across Argungu, Bagudo and Birnin Kebbi to the other villages, our gathering here is not merely for celebration of agriculture, it for livelihood, it is an identity, it is culture and it is for economy. Kebbi State is an example of broad reality. A nation that cannot feed it’s people, cannot be sovereignty.
“Food security therefore and agriculture imperative are foundation of economic strength, social stability and resilience. His Excellency, our dear President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made this a position clear by delegating agriculture as the strategic priority and issued a mandate that demand actions, coordination, for reasonable results.
“That mandate is all what we all shares from the Federal Government to the state Governments, from Institutions to farmers. Each of us carry the responsibilities to ensure food production and securing our nation future. In Kebbi State that mandate is being advance under the examplenary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris. His administration has been of productivity, value agriculture and food security second to the state developmental agenda”.
Kyari noted that Kebbi State Government strategic policies on agriculture have equiped farmers with necessary inputs which resulted to the improvement in the productivity across the state”.
He added that the Kebbi State has continued to be leader in the rice production to ensure food production supply in the country.

Kyari said Kebbi State was among the states which has started the production of fortified rice, spring up of many rice mills.
” We recognized your disciplined, your resilience and enterprise, you are working under unfavourable conditions, yet, you continued to adapt and innovate. In doing so to sustain the livelihood and economy of the state.
“What we see in Kebbi State today is commendable and encouraging to help many farmers, cultivate more land”, saying that, “this is a standard all Nigerians must uphold which corroborate with the federal government agenda in agriculture”
In his remark, Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris who dislosed that his administration commitment to continued to assist the farmers to sustain food security in the country.
He disclosed that for the dry season, the farmers would be given over 5,000 sprayers, 24,000 herbicide, 2000 solar pumps, 5,000 tillers, as well bags of organics fertilizer.
“We gather here to mark our significant milestone our agriculture transformation agenda. The Kaura Agriculture Development Agenda has brought alot of progress we have made and settle the future of agriculture in our dear state.
Our agenda has focuses on empowering farmers, improving productivity and enhance food security. We have made progress in the livestock production and fishery. Our huge investment in providing free inputs for the farmers and extension service delivery are the testament of this administration to empowering farmers in the state and sustain food security in the state and in country at large”.
Idris added his administration continued support to the farmers as resulted to the high yield of three major crops in the state .
According to him, the annual rice production has increased year in and out saying production in 2023 was 3.50m tonnes, 2024 was 3.14m tonnes and projections of 2025 would be 3m tonnes by the end of March.
Idris who assured that the state still maintain top chart as the leading producer of rice in Nigeria, warmed Chairmen of Local Government Areas and Commissioners from sharing from the agriculture inputs distributed to the farmers free.
