The Dredgers Association of Nigeria (DAN) yesterday, distanced itself from an October 23, 2026 report published by some online platforms, titled: ‘Dredgers Association Appeals to Sanwo-Olu Over Alleged Extortion, Urges Governor to Call Alebiosu, Cardoso to Order.’
In a disclaimer signed by its national leadership, the association stated that the publication did not originate from its leadership or any authorised organ of the body.
DAN clarified that it neither authorised, approved, nor issued any petition or press release accusing the Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Ekundayo Alebiosu, or Mr. Cardoso of harassing, intimidating, or extorting dredgers and tipper operators.
The association stated that it had no record of the alleged impoundment of trucks or demands for ₦500,000 as reported.
Reaffirming its relationship with the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, DAN described its engagements with the administration and the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development as cordial and collaborative.

The association also expressed regret for any embarrassment, inconvenience, or reputational damage the report might have caused the Lagos State Government, the commissioner, and other officials mentioned.
