Dr. Anthony E. Etuvoata, an esteemed Nigerian legal scholar and practitioner, continues to solidify his reputation as a leading expert in African law. With his insights sought after across various prestigious forums, Dr. Etuvoata’s influence spans legal academia, advocacy, and consultancy, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of African and international legal discourse.
Dr. Etuvoata has delivered expert opinions and groundbreaking presentations in different public forums. His participation at notable conferences, including the Africa Construction Law Conference 2022 in Lagos (where critical issues and insights in construction law in the African context were addressed by construction law experts and stakeholders), the 6th ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration also held in Lagos (where inter-alia issues concerning the evolving role of arbitration in resolving disputes within the African continent featured prominently) underscore his passion for developing scholarship in multi-disciplinary field of study and professional specialization beyond the contours of law. In July of the same year, he participated in the 16th Annual International Business Law Conference organized by the NBA-SBL Section on Business Law in Abuja, offering his perspectives on business and international law.
Dr. Etuvoata’s engagement with the legal community dates back to June 2011 when he spoke at the conference titled “Dispute Resolution, Plea Bargaining, and Restorative Justice in Nigeria” organized by the Dispute Resolution Centre in Asaba, Delta State. Since August 2011, he has been a regular participant at the Nigerian Bar Associations (NBA) Annual Conferences, contributing to key discussions shaping the legal profession in Nigeria.
Beyond academia and conferences, Dr. Etuvoata has served as a trusted legal advisor and consultant to several NGOs focusing on human rights. He has provided invaluable counsel to organizations such as Blessing O’ Foundation, where he acts as a legal advisor – African region; the Human Community Rights Centre (HCRC) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State; and Favours’ Touch Foundation, where his expertise has been instrumental in advancing human rights initiatives.
Dr. Etuvoata’s contributions extend into legal education, where his teaching experience highlights his dedication to shaping the next generation of legal professionals. Between 2014 and 2016, he served as a part-time law teacher and facilitator at the National Open University of Nigeria, Asaba Study Centre. He has since held adjunct teaching roles at Novena University, Western Delta University, and currently serves as an adjunct senior law lecturer at Benson Idahosa University in Benin, Edo State.
