DPR directs petroleum marketers in Abia to revert to official pump price

From Okey Sampson, Umuahia

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has directed petroleum marketers in Abia State that are still selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price to revert to the official pump price of N163-165 or risk being sanctioned.

The DPR Operations Controller, Umuahia Field Office, Emmanuel Okoro, who gave the warning, insisted that the federal government has not increased the pump price of any petroleum product.

Okoro said the federal government was emphatic the price of the product will not be increased for the month of March.

He said that during their monitoring exercise they discovered that the mega filling stations and major marketers were still selling at the current official pump price, while the Independent marketers increased their pump prices.

Okoro informed that the Department has reached out to chairmen of the various petroleum products dealers unions in the state and they assured they will get their members to revert to the approved pump price.

He said any retail outlet found not complying with the directive would be sealed.
