The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has fixed January 19, 2024 as the hearing date on the appeal filed by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on the alleged doping violation on World hurdles 100m record holder, Tobi Amusan.

The AIU had in September 2023, filed an appeal against the disciplinary tribunal’s decision, which cleared Amusan of any doping violations.

In July 2023, AIU handed Amusan a provisional suspension for allegedly missing three tests in 12 months.

The three-man Disciplinary Tribunal cleared the Nigerian former World 100m hurdles champion of two out of the three whereabouts failures and the AIU subsequently lifted the provisional suspension and cleared the reigning Commonwealth Games champion and record holder on the eve of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary last August.

According to the listing of cases for the year on CAS website, there are two cases filed against the Nigerian and African champion on the same date.

“CAS 2023/A/9992 World Athletics v. Oluwatobiloba (Tobi) Amusan

“CAS 2023/A/10067 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) v. World Athletics & Oluwatobiloba (Tobi) Amusan”, as listed on CAS website.

In reaction to the charge and now suspension, Amusan vowed to resolve the charges against her as she insists on being a “Clean Athlete”

“I am a clean athlete, and I am regularly (maybe more than usual) tested by the AIU,” she wrote, in referencing the Athletics Integrity Unit, which oversees doping issues.
