THE new militant group in the oil rich South south, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has been warned to stop destroying the Niger Delta environment.

A group called Ogoni ex-illegal refiners forum (OERF), sounded the warning yesterday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, describing NDA members of the group as saboteurs.

Leader of the group, Mr. Cassidy Mbera , said with the appointment of Brig-Gen Paul Boroh, Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme, the region was in a good position to benefit more from President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Mbera said members of NDA should tow the path of their group, who abandoned their illegal refining business for the sake of peace and to support the Buhari-led government to address the problem.

He regretted that the Niger Delta Avengers started their illegal activities in the region when Buhari has shown interest in the zone, especially his action to clean up Ogoniland.

Speaking further, Mbera called on the Ogoni people to dissociate themselves from the activities of the Avengers and support President Buhari, as he flags off the Ogoni cleanup on June 2, 2016, in Bori, the traditional headquarters of Ogoniland.
