The Cross River State chapter chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr John Ogar, says the party is gaining momentum in the state.

Dr Ogar, who disclosed this in an interview in Calabar, confirmed reports of the defection of former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, to the party.

According to him, “Yes, it’s true, Mr Donald Duke has defected to our party.

“This shows that our party is gaining momentum in the state. You know he is one of the best governors our state has produced and his decision to join our party speaks a lot about what we are doing,” he said.

Donald Duke, a former two-term governor of Cross River State, reportedly decamped from the People’s Democratic Party to the ADC and formally registered in Ward 5 of Calabar Municipality as a member.

The former Cross River State governor has, however, not formally spoken of his defection to the ADC.

He contested for the presidency in 2007 under the People’s Democratic Party and also in 2019 under the Social Democratic Party.

It is, however, unclear if he has an eye for the presidency come 2027.
