Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association, Kogi state chapter Wednesday calls on governor Usman Ododo to emulate the federal government by creating the state ministry of Livestock to cater for over two million cattles in the state.
The chairman of the association, Dr Tolu Omotugba while addressing newsmen in lokoja said kogi state been a transit state that links the Northern and Southern part of the country is a place of domicile for thousands of herders with their over two million cattles saying if the ministry is created it will take care of their numerous needs.

He also said if the ministry is created, it will drastically reduce the herders’ / farmers clash which often lead to loss of lives and property but he however said such ministry should be headed by a credible Veterinarian as it’s commissioner.

The NVMA extends it’s profound gratitude to governor Ododo for the approval and prompt implemention of 2021 Revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure ( CONMESS) for it’s members in the state civil service and said such gesture was a welcome development.

He however called on the Governor to ensure the prompt payment of the accumulated arrears to his members since the salary structure’s implemention in January, 2021.
The association encouraged the Governor to continue with the exemplary works he has initiated in the state assuring that the civil servants are prepared to lead his re election campaigns in 2027.
