The Kano State Government has dragged the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, along with others, to court over alleged diversion of N24 billion local government funds.
Garo was a two-term commissioner for the Ministry for Local Government in the state. He was also a former running mate to the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state in the 2023 general elections.
Other respondents in the suit included Murtala Sule Garo, Mohd Sule Garo, Mustapha Sule Garo, Isah Musa Kera, MJ Multipurpose Services Ltd, A.U Future Investment Ltd, and Shoreditch General Resources Ltd.

The Personal Assistant to the Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Adam, posted the statement in his Facebook, adding that the case, registered under Charge No. K/1330/24, was before the High Court of Justice in the Kano Judicial Division.
He said the charges followed allegations of misappropriation and diversion of local government funds in the state.
