Canada-based Nigerian disc jockey, Philip Tekeyi, has commended Nigerian deejays for their efforts in making the nation’s music gain massive acceptance in the international scene.

According to the multiple award winning disc jokey, who is popularly known as DJ Phil Baddest, Nigerian deejays based abroad are dominating the global music scene and adding quality to the steady growth of the industry.

“I reside in Toronto, Canada and I can testify to how we, the DJs, are contributing our own quota in putting Nigeria and Afrobeats on stages around cities in Canada. I have performed in Canadian cities like Niagara Falls, Brampton, Kitchener, London Ontario, Branford, Belleville Hamilton, Waterloo, and the acceptance of Afrobeats has been awesome,” he explained, adding, “If you observe the evolution of African music, you won’t deny that DJs have been a necessary link between music and its audiences.”

DJ Phil, who just released a new song and its visual titled, Wole Wa featuring a Nigerian Afropop singer, Lyta, said deejays now top music charts all over the world. “DJs are now topping the music charts with their hit tracks by featuring artistes and also making albums. The DJ profession is now more than just mixing and changing songs for people to dance; we are now headlining shows and concerts,” he said.
