The Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairmen, led by Austin Nwachukwu, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to disassociate himself from the faction of the party led by former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
Nwachukwu, while speaking at a press briefing on Monday in Abuja, accused the Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee (INWC) of allegedly impersonating the leadership of the opposition party, as well as misrepresenting court judgments. He insisted that the only PDP leadership recognised by the courts and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is that led by Alhaji Abdulraham Mohammed as National Chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.
The Turaki-led INWC and the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), led by Abdulraham Mohammed, have been at loggerheads over who constitutes the authentic leadership of the opposition party. While the Mohammed-led NWC nominated Senator Sandy Onor as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, the Turaki camp named Jonathan as its own standard-bearer for the next presidential contest.
He said, “We, the 36 states and FCT chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, stand before you today not out of bitterness, but out of duty as commanders of our various states, to defend the integrity of the PDP, to protect the rule of law, and to preserve the peace and stability of our party and our democracy.”

According to him, they can no longer remain silent over the activities of the Turaki group, noting that members of the group had allegedly been expelled from the opposition party and should not be allowed to continue allegedly deceiving members of the public.
“We call on former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, in view of the global image and moral authority you command, to address Nigerians directly and disassociate yourself from the continuous use of your name in this spectacle of macabre dance by expelled PDP members.”
Furthermore, Nwachukwu added: “We call on Alhaji Abdulraham Mohammed and Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu-led NWC to take positive and decisive final legal action to stop this charade.
“The deception of the entire PDP membership must end. We urge the NWC to immediately file contempt proceedings and other appropriate actions against these expelled individuals for impersonation, forgery, and disobedience of court orders. The party must protect its name, logo, and structure in law.”
