Days after the demise of Hollywood actress and comedian, Diane Keaton, the family has shared an update by revealing the cause of her death.
Keaton’s death was announced on October 12, 2025, after a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department told CNN that they received a call for medical assistance and transferred her to a hospital.
In a statement to PEOPLE, the legendary actress’s family disclosed that the 79-year-old star died of pneumonia.

“The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” the statement reads.
“She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her,” it added.
