Founder of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) and Africa Film and Content Market (AFCM), Chioma Ude, has been honoured at the recently concluded Dhofar International Film Festival in Oman for her contributions to the global film industry. Ude served as Head of Jury for Short Films at the festival, bringing her experience in African cinema, film festivals and industry development to the event.
Her visit also created an opportunity to discuss strengthening cultural exchange and collaboration between Nigeria, Oman, and the wider African film industry.
Speaking about her experience, Ude said: “I do not come here by chance; I actually came here as a challenge.”
She further described the jury experience as demanding, noting that the team watched several impressive films and gained a deeper appreciation for filmmakers’ efforts.
During her visit, Ude met with Anwar bin Khamis Al Ruzaigi, Chairman of the Oman Film Society, as well as Egyptian actress, singer and producer Bushra Ahmed Razza, professionally known as Bushra.
The engagement is expected to strengthen ties between African and Middle Eastern film professionals, with discussions focusing on partnerships, professional development, investment and co-production.
Meanwhile, the 15th edition of AFRIFF is scheduled for November 1 to 7, 2026, in Nigeria, alongside AFCM, which provides a platform for business, content acquisition, investment, and professional exchange across Africa’s film and television industry.
