The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) has announced the inaugural DGN Film & TV Investment Summit 2026, a two-day industry gathering designed to connect filmmakers with investors, producers, broadcasters, and other key stakeholders, unlocking new opportunities in Nigeria’s film and television sector.

Scheduled for 4–5 December 2026, with the venue yet to be revealed, the summit will focus on attracting investment in the creative industry and fostering partnerships to transform film ideas into commercially viable projects.

According to Uche Agbo, the National President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to strengthening the business side of filmmaking by creating a platform where creatives and financiers can engage in meaningful conversations that lead to tangible investments.

The first day of the summit, themed “The Money,” will feature high- level discussions on film financing, investment opportunities, strategic partnerships, policy frameworks, and sustainable business models aimed at building a stronger and more competitive film industry.

The second day, titled “The Pitch,” will host the DGN Pitch Arena, where filmmakers will present projects to secure the commissioning of ten films, each backed by a minimum production budget of ₦10 million from participating producers, investors, and industry platforms.

“The commissioning initiative is intended to bridge the gap between creative talent and funding while encouraging greater private- sector participation in Nigeria’s burgeoning screen industry. Beyond the investment sessions, the summit will also serve as the launch platform for the DGN West Africa Creative Tour 2026/2027, an initiative aimed at expanding dialogue around cross- border co- productions, investment, distribution, and creative collaboration across the West African region,” Agbo said.

With the theme of turning conversations into real investments, the Directors Guild of Nigeria described the summit as a significant step towards positioning the country’s film industry for increased regional collaboration, more robust financing structures, and sustainable growth.
