The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen YD Ahmed has assured that the security and welfare of corps members remain a top priority of the present administration.
Brig. Gen YD Ahmed, who paid a familiarisation visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Bayelsa state, commended the corps members for the high level of discipline in the camp and urged them to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the scheme.
He charged them to take responsibility for their security by being vigilant at all times and also read the security tips booklet given to them.
Ahmed cautioned corps members to shun misuse of social media and avoid posting NYSC activities on social media.
Speaking on the importance of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED programme, the DG encouraged them to key into it as it is aimed at making them self-reliant and future employers of labour.
He urged them to continue to participate in all camp activities and wear proper dress codes at all times.
The DG admonished corps members to desist from needless adventures and night journeys due to dangers on the road.
In appreciation of the impressive discipline and comportment of the corps members, Ahmed donated three fat cows to the corps members to celebrate their graduation from school.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity in her welcome remarks, briefed the Director General on the camp situation and said that the corps members have adjusted to the camp regimented lifestyle and have shown a high level of discipline and actively participating in all camp activities.
She also informed that camp officials have sustained the use of emotional intelligence in interpersonal relationships on duty.
