From Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo
Bello Bodejo, aspirant for the Taraba Central Senatorial seat who was recently arrested by the DSS in Jalingo and handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said that despite being detained, he is still in the race.
The aspirant, who spoke through his media aide, Mallam Umar, stated that he did not purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms to step down for anyone. According to Umar, Bello Bodejo said he is still in the race to represent his people in the National Assembly.
Umar further explained that Bello, though in EFCC custody, has reaffirmed his determination to contest for the Taraba Central Senate seat and participate in the party primaries scheduled to hold on Monday across the five local government areas of the Taraba Central Senatorial District.

According to him, despite his current stay at the EFCC facility, he remains resolute, optimistic, and confident of emerging victorious against all odds.
Umar said Bello is calling on his supporters and the good people of Taraba Central Senatorial District to come out in large numbers to vote for him during the primaries.
Bello Bodejo, according to Umar, has assured that if given the mandate in 2027, he would not disappoint the people and would work tirelessly to deliver meaningful development across the senatorial district.
Umar, however, stated that the EFCC has not yet informed the aspirant of the offence he committed that warranted his arrest and detention.
