Protesters flooded the Ikeja Underbridge in Lagos on Wednesday morning, marking the country’s 2024 Democracy Day.

However, there is a substantial security presence, with police officers and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps officials seen at the location.

The demonstrators yelled solidarity songs as they held placards and banners.

At the protesting grounds, some of the demonstrators had placards with the inscriptions: ‘President Tinubu, let the poor breathe’, ‘Payment of living wage to all Nigerian workers now’.

It was observed that several civil society groups led the protest, including the Take It Back Movement, the Education Rights Campaign, the Coalition for Revolution, and the Socialist Workers League.
