Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected human trafficker and rescued a 25-year-old woman allegedly deceived into travelling to Côte d’Ivoire.
The suspect, 26-year-old Ese Betty Isiorho, was arrested by the Effurun Area Command following a petition. Police investigations showed she lured the victim with a promise of hairdressing training, but on arrival, the victim was allegedly forced into prostitution.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said: “During interrogation, Isiorho admitted to trafficking the 25-year-old and another woman in her 20s to Côte d’Ivoire, where they were handed over to a woman identified as Madam Purity for exploitation. Through coordinated efforts, the 25-year-old victim was successfully rescued and repatriated to Nigeria. She has been reunited with her family and is receiving medical care. The Command said efforts are ongoing to bring back the second victim and arrest other members of the syndicate.
“Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, lauded officers for the operation and restated the Command’s resolve to tackle human trafficking and other organised crimes. He urged the public to be vigilant and report suspicious recruitment offers and trafficking activities to the police immediately.”
