In a proactive move to prevent any security breaches during the ember months particularly as Christmas celebration is fast approaching, Delta State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda has held a strategic security meeting with members of the Bankers Forum in the State
The meeting, which was held on September 23, 2025, in Asaba, was convened by the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, and attended by the Chief Security Officer of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Asaba branch, and 39 heads of banks across the state.
In a statement, Delta state Police Public Relations Officer( PPRO),SP Bright Edafe, said the CP, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, explained that the meeting became necessary as criminal activities usually increase during the ember months.

“It is important for bankers to take adequate security measures to checkmate the activities of criminals who may want to take advantage of the festive period. The command is aware that Delta is bounded by Edo and other neighboring states, hence the need to constantly review our security strategies,” he said.
Adejobi further advised banks to install advanced and functional CCTV cameras in and around their facilities to support police efforts in monitoring activities within the banking environment.
The Chief Security Officer of the CBN, Mrs. Evangeline Patrick, commended the initiative, noting: “We do not release cash to banks that are not adequately armed with the required number of policemen on specie escort.”
The DC reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring safety during the ember months, stressing that the meeting was “just a tip of the iceberg in the proactive measures being taken by the command to ensure a crime-free festive season in Delta State.”
