Delta police arrest robbery suspect, recover fabricated pistol

Operatives from ‘A’ Division Warri, of the Delta State Police Command, have arrested 38-year-old Emmanuel Solomon, in connection with  alleged attempted robbery in Egbokodo Itsekiri Community, Warri South local government.

The police were said to have mobilised to the scene following a distress call on March 9,2026, in collaboration with members of the community, and cordoned off the area.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO)SP Bright Edafe,  in a statement yesterday, said that during the operation, one suspect,  Emmanuel Solomon,38,was apprehended within the premises.

“A thorough search of the surrounding area led to the recovery of a bag containing two double-barreled cut-to-size guns and five live cartridges. Investigation is ongoing”, he added.

Edafe disclosed that in a separate incident, on 25 March 2026, operatives of the Command’s Raiders Squad, while acting on credible intelligence, carried out a stop-and-search operation along the Benin–Asaba Expressway by Custom Market, Oshimili North LG.

He said that during the exercise, one Aminu Inusa, 23,was intercepted and a search conducted on him led to the recovery of one locally fabricated Beretta pistol.

The suspect has been taken into custody, and investigation is ongoing, he added.

The statement said the command commended the operatives for their professionalism, swift response, and commitment to duty, urging members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information. It added that the command remains resolute in its determination to rid the state of criminal elements.
