The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate intelligence-led operations that led to the recovery of illegal firearms, including a Beretta pistol and a cut-to-size single-barrel gun, in Ozoro and Agbor.
One of the suspects, Yakubu Musa, 25, was arrested on July 25 during a routine township patrol along Alaka Road, Ozoro, where he was seen carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, said the suspect failed to give a satisfactory account of the items in his possession, prompting further investigation. He said a subsequent search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of a cut-to-size single-barrel gun.
“The suspect is in custody while investigations continue,” Edafe stated.

In a separate operation carried out on July 24, operatives of the Agbor Division, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted Sunday Anaboro, 40, an indigene of Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area, who resides in Agbor.
According to the police, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol concealed inside a sack. The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations, after which he will be charged in court.
Edafe said the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s determination to rid Delta State of illegal firearms and other instruments of crime.
He also urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat crime across the state.
